The first step we want to figure out is, “What do we plan on using our tent for?“. This is essentially the MOST important question because it will tell us exactly what size tent to rent. After we determine how much space we actually need, we can further plan on how we will piece everything together by creating the perfect floor plan and tent layout. More on this below.

What Size Party Tent Do I Need For 50 Guests?
Let’s discuss the basic steps to determine the best tent size if you’re expecting 50 guests. Most of our outdoor tented events include seating, whether that includes seating for all guests or partial seating as not all guests will be seated at the same time. Two of the most common seating options are round table seating and rectangle table seating. Furthermore, regardless of round or rectangle table rentals, it’s most common to seat 8 people per table using 60in round table rentals or 8ft rectangle tables.
Party Tent Size For 50 Guests With Round Table Seating
If you’re seating guests at round tables, you will need a 20ft x 30ft party tent to seat 50 guests. If you’re seating guests at rectangle tables, you could need a 20ft x 20ft tent because rectangle tables don’t require as much space as opposed to round seating.

You can fit up to (6) round tables in a 20ft x 30ft to seat 50 people. However, you can fit (6) 8ft rectangle tables (8 guests per table) in a 20ft x 20ft tent. Based on this information, it is still recommended that the best party tent size for 50 guests is a 20ft x 30ft.
What If I Don't Need Seating for 50 People?
No seating? The best tent size for 50 guests without seating would be a 20ft x 20ft party tent rental. The general rule of thumb is to allow approximately 2-4sqft of space per guest. In our case, 4sqft x 50 guests = 200sqft. This means a 15ft x 15ft tent would probably work. However, it may be pretty tight if you ONLY plan for having just enough space for your guests to be covered under the tent. Once your guests are talking and moving around, you’ll llikely need more space. Which is why we would recommend a 20ft x 20ft tent.
Based on this information, it is still recommended that the best party tent size for 50 guests is a 20ft x 30ft. Perhaps you have more than just seating that you’ll need space for… Suppose you would like space under your party tent for seating AND food, drinks and/or gifts. In this case, it would be best to reserve a larger tent such as a 20ft x 40ft.
